Origami fabric maker online sales soar 30pc after pandemic

Disposable paper product maker Origami is seeing strong sales growth after the pandemic, especially in the online sales channel which grew by 30%, a senior company official said.

This is being helped by a change in consumer behavior after the COVID-19 outbreak and increased awareness of disposable hygiene and personal care products, the official added.

Origami offers products ranging from paper towels, toilet paper rolls and facial tissues to hand and hand towels, including facial tissues, wet wipes, paper plates and cups and tablecloths. .

“We have seen a number of changes in consumer behavior, and hygiene products now feature prominently in monthly household purchases. We have seen strong growth in sales, especially online sales which have increased by 30% since the start of the pandemic, ”said Origami co-founder Manoj Pachisia.

Some of its products have also been well received by small towns.

Origami, which started its activities in 1995, mainly addressed the segment of hotels, restaurants and catering (HORECA) and finally extended to the general public and businesses.

It had recorded a turnover of more than Rs 200 crore for the year ended in March 2020, with a growth of 15% year on year.

After the pandemic, consumers are gradually turning to e-commerce channels, Pachisia said, adding that this could be permanent given the ease of shopping online.

“The habit of shopping online will only grow as the current generation and even older generations adjust to the new way of life,” he said.

Currently, Origami is present in 30,000 sales outlets and is expanding its offline sales network.
